The Congress is held with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and is the largest annual scientific and practical event in the field of ophthalmology.
The 23rd International Scientific Practical Congress «Modern technologies in cataract, refractive and corneal surgery» was held on October 5-7, 2023. This is a large-scale event that brought together more than 2,200 scientists and specialists from different countries.
The main topics of the Congress: «Modern technologies of cataract and refractive surgery», as well as «New approaches in the treatment of corneal diseases».
During the congress, participants made 262 reports and presentations, which touched on the most pressing issues of modern ophthalmic surgery. Also during the congress, «live» ophthalmic surgery was carried out, during which 18 operations were performed.
Igor Loskutov, Chief freelance ophthalmologist of the Moscow region, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology and Optometry in M.F. Vladimirsky Moscow Regional Research and Clinical Institute (MONIKI), made a report on the following topic: «The optimal choice of viscoelastic in the ophthalmology practice». In his speech, he presented his own methodology for choosing a specific viscoelastic with a certain percentage of sodium hyaluronate and chondroitin sulfate, depending on the number of corneal endothelial cells, using the example of the Solopharm viscoelastic portfolio.
