There are places where the usual connection to the world cuts out. Where, instead of city noise, all you hear is the wind. Where sandy dunes unexpectedly appear in the middle of the Siberian taiga, and the horizon runs up against the harsh peaks of the Kodar Ridge.
It is right here, on August 22–23, that one of Russia’s most unusual trail races will take place — Kodar Ridge Chara Sands: A Journey of a Lifetime (Kodar Ridge Chara Sands) by Running Heroes Russia.
This year, Solopharm and the dietary supplement brand Elentra Nutrition® have become partners of this unique race, preparing gifts for all participants of this great journey.
It is hard to call this event just a competition. It’s more of an expedition, where the distance becomes only a part of the path.
Participants will encounter the Chara Sands — the northernmost sand desert on the planet. Amid swamps, rivers and endless taiga, real sand dunes suddenly appear, as if transported here from another world. It is no wonder that many compare this place to the universe of Frank Herbert’s Dune.
But the main thing here is not the scenery. The main thing is the feeling that arises when you realize how vast, powerful and beautiful nature can be.
Routes of 30, 50, 70 and 120 kilometers pass through the most impressive corners of Transbaikalia, giving runners the chance to see the Kodar mountain range, fast-flowing northern rivers, boundless sands, and to feel the true character of Eastern Siberia.
Every finisher will take home not only memories, but also a special award — a medal made of charoite. This mineral is mined only here, in the Transbaikal region, and nowhere else in the world.
Interest in the event turned out to be incredible. All 700 spots were sold out in just 10 minutes, and a hundred of the most prepared athletes will set off to conquer the main distance — 120 kilometers.
Such events are a reminder that a real adventure begins where familiar comfort ends.
